This past Saturday, our very own Aqabah Karate instructor, Uthman Eberle, and "The Grappling Phenom", Altan Eringkoc, represented Aqabah Karate at the North American Grappling Association (NAGA) Championships in Landover, Maryland.
They have been training consistently over the past few months increasing their knowledge of jiu-j']itsu in preparation for this tournament. Their hard work paid off.
Uthman went 1-1 for the day, winning his first match by points in a dominant fashion but losing in the second match by points in the last few seconds. This was Uthman's first ever grappling tournament. It was a great learning experience for him and he will only get better with time.
Altan competed in the men's featherweight master's division. He had a tough fight in his first match, going back and forth on points, positions, and submission attempts. He successfully finished the day capturing the silver medal in his division.
Aqabah Karate would like to congratulate Uthman and Altan for their hardwork and success.
